myStromer Smart Helmet

A helmet design from student days for the myStromer design competition,
which focuses on the safety of S-Pedelec drivers.
(2019)

Research

At the beginning of the project, intensive research was carried out into road safety and accidents. Particularly with regard to cyclists and S-pedelec riders.

Market position

A positioning matrix was also created in comparison to other safety helmets and the Smart Helmet was ranked in terms of progressiveness.

CAD Process

In the course of the project, two main CAD models were created, which were mainly used to define details on the helmet.

Modularity

The helmet can be worn in different ways thanks to a modular plug-in system. In the standard version, it resembles an ordinary bicycle helmet with integrated lights and indicators.

Earmuffs can be added as protection from the weather, along with an AR display for more information while riding.

To complete the helmet, a chin guard with an additional integrated light can now be attached. The helmet is now fully functional in terms of safety and communication with other road users.
